The appeal of a power system this dense is that it *constrains* — it should be at least as good at ruling things out as it is at making things possible. Apply the following whenever building, testing, or discussing a character or build:*2324* **Treat testing as adversarial, not collaborative-by-default.** The point of a stress-test is to find the build's actual load-bearing weaknesses, not to reach agreement with whoever brought it. Capitulating under pushback, or escalating to superlatives round after round simply because the conversation is going that direction, is a failure mode to actively guard against. Hold a position when the mechanics support it; concede only when the mechanics say to. Do note however, that any citations are to be thoroughly checked, and the points you make should hold up under this system, else your own point is wrong.25* **No willpower-justified power spikes.** Determination, narrative stakes, or "believing hard enough" are not a substitute for a sourced mechanism. If a build needs to survive or overcome something, name the specific art responsible, its established numbers, and why it applies here — don't reach for grit as the explanation.26* **No generic or ambiguous techniques.** "A powerful punch" or "an internal energy blast" isn't an answer to the question 'how' — name the art, and derive the effect from what that specific art does (Parts 1-6). The compatibility filters in Part 1 aren't optional flavor: incompatible arts stacked without a translator/integrator/pipeline art between them will produce backlash or conflict, not a bigger number.27* **No comedy-logic in fight mechanics.** Comedic tone is fine outside of combat, but a fight's outcome should follow from the established mechanics, not from a joke landing. This is also where the acquisition/mastery line matters: an art arriving through a fluke encounter or unlikely teacher is exactly where the comedy belongs — the *mastery* of it afterward still has to obey normal costs, timelines, and training. Comedic acquisition, not comedic mastery.Canon is full of protagonists falling into caves and finding manuals (Shi Potian, Duan Yu, Zhang Wuji). An art arriving through a fluke encounter is fine. However, the mastery of that art must still obey normal costs, timelines, and mechanical constraints. Finding the Nine Yin Manual in a belly does not mean it is mastered overnight; it must be studied, deciphered, and practiced. This can be bypassed by mental-enhancement arts like Nine Yang, Taixuan Jing, TT, Little Formless Art and so on.28* **Derive un-sourced effects, don't invent them.** When an art's exact effect on other arts isn't spelled out in canon, work it out from the art's known numbers and by reasoning from adjacent, better-documented arts (Part 3's stage/grade breakdowns are a model for this kind of derivation) — this takes real cross-referencing, not a plausible-sounding guess. If genuinely unsure, say so and check a source rather than presenting a guess as settled fact, and call for user help.29* **Not all wikis are equal — check judgment, not just presence.** wuxiasociety.com is a content farm; don't treat it as a reliable source for canon facts. For factual reference and verification, baike.baidu.com is the better source. For discussion of contested points, canon interpretations, or how a mechanic is generally understood in the community, zhihu is the better place to look. If a claim can't be pinned down through either, say so plainly instead of presenting a guess as settled.30* **Admit errors cleanly.** If a claim about a technique, an attribution, or a mechanic turns out wrong, say so plainly and correct it — no deflecting, hedging, or quietly reframing the original claim as having meant something else. Keep cross-referencing failures (an AI or a wiki getting a fact wrong) analytically separate from genuine build weaknesses; conflating the two lets errors masquerade as either vindication or damning evidence when they're neither.31* **Strict adherence to the 2005 newly revised editions** where a work has multiple editions — e.g. the Dragon-Subduing Palms went from 28 moves down to 18 with Xiao Feng and Xuzhu's simplification. Flag it explicitly on the rare occasion an earlier or later edition's version is more relevant; don't treat editions as interchangeable by default.3233---3435### PART 1: COMPATIBILITY LAYER TYPOLOGY36*(Informal typings for categorizing and describing how different arts interact, original labels by the skill, don't integrate into in-universe narratives)*3738* **'Vent'-type (Formless Art):** Acts as a pressure release valve. Spends stolen neili on technique copied from the source, safely disposing of heterogenous neili. Does not generate its own energy matrix but safely bleeds off excess or conflicting neili to prevent meridian rupture. Little Formless Art copies the martial technique needed to safely use the stolen neili, but does not copy the specific neili itself.39* **'Source'-type (Northern Darkness / Beiming):** Absorption art that works both on environment and on opponent. It does not generate neili; it relies on pulling external neili in to function as the user's own fuel. It cannot interfere if the neili is already inside the user; the only function it can be used for is as a vacuum or funnel, with the choice to convert it to beiming true qi at a slight loss proportional to the specialized-ness of the neili absorbed from the opponent (done automatically for ambient). The ambient absorption is called beiming qi, and can be used in all sorts of ingenious ways like rebound, sacrificial neili layering, or giving it to others through one yang finger's neili-transferring abilities or other methods.40* **'Translate'-type (Shaolin Tendon/Marrow Cleansing):** Acts as a converter. Takes raw, unrefined, or incompatible neili and gently translates it into Buddhist neili, a format the body’s meridians can safely process and store. Also passively makes buddhist neili on its own, which stay in the bones(MC) and muscles(TT) (Yi Jin Jing and Xi Sui Jing cultivate and store power through the transformed physical body, i.e. muscles, tendons, marrow, bones.)41* **'Integrate'-type (Taixuan Jing):** A cross between translate and override, this type catalogues and removes conflict from neili within the user without drastically altering anything, and integrates other arts, while also producing its own neili that is compatible with the integrated arts. Very powerful, to the point of being able to allow compatibility without nearly as many arts as expected to make it work.42* **'De-escalate'-type (Taiji):** Can but usually does not absorb and vent. Instead, it redirects and recycles. Friction and incoming force are caught in a closed-loop circuit, spinning and redirecting until the kinetic/neili energy is returned, recycled into the user's own attacks, or dissipated harmlessly. Also allows yin and yang extreme internals to coexist when a harmonical art is paired with it and Jade Maiden Heart Sutra. Taiji is the main one with all these functions, but H&E GS and SSA can do the redirection-work in slightly different ways: H&E GS redirects all amounts of force, with no limit, to either the sky or the ground. SSA redirects directly in reverse to the original direction of the force.43* **'Pipeline'-type (Jade Maiden Heart Sutra):** Creates useable, structural, layered meridian pathways, and based on the subtypes of neili in the user, can have more than two layers. Used canonically to switch between Jade Maiden Swordplay and Quanzhen Swordplay. Paired with Left-Right Mutual Combat, it allows two contradictory arts to run simultaneously without destructive interference, and can allow bizarre combinations of yin and yang, buddhist and daoist, orthodox and heterodox, unorthodox and demonic, without causing backlash. Extremely useful for cross-school compatibility.44* **'Nonexistence'-type (Pre-Heaven Skill):** Absolute isolation. It cannot interact with neili, and neili cannot interact with it AT ALL, even though both can power the same physical movements. This can be used as a fallback if original neili is drained.45* **'Override'-type (Taixuan Jing , Nine Yang):** A type of art that converts other neili into its own or purifies other neili. Bad if it is incompatible with owned arts, good if there are other translators or integrators which give it a niche to occupy. (*purifies* is not *converts*, it is direct internal conflict. This must be stopped through compatibility-based arts)46* **'Frictionless'-type (Lingbo Weibu and Northern Darkness Ambient Absorption):** Highly passive generators that don't care whether their neili is converted into other art's neili. The neili this type of art generates can be used by any other art without issue, and converting this type of neili has almost no loss.47* **'Harmonical'-type (Kurong Zen):** A type of internal that balances neili in the body. Dual states of withering and flourishing exist. This art-type boosts the generation of what is in deficiency, for example, when one has Taixuan Jing and Nine Yang Divine Skill alongside Kurong Zen and Jade Maiden Heart Sutra, this art generates more yin than yang, though it would be of this art's specialization.48* **'Muscle'-type (DEPS , TT , MC ):** Not exactly neili, but allows using neili-based skills through muscle. Also strengthens the body by extreme amounts and strengthens the meridians, allowing for a larger total neili capacity. DEPS is pure external muscle refinement; each of its thirteen stages doubles the user's physical strength and adds the power of a dragon and an elephant, and does not provide neili, though of course, muscle this powerful can substitute neili in most arts.4950---5152### PART 2: FUNDAMENTAL JIANGHU ARTS (The "Copper" Tier)53*The absolute baseline of the martial world. Almost every master started here, and many still use these as the physical foundation beneath their flashy techniques. Most martial artists have these. They get exponentially harder to train for diminishing returns each time. Everybody can recognise these if they are the only things being practiced, but it gets harder to tell with every art stacked on. These are very useful for redundancy.*5455* **Turtle Breath:** Jianghu's most common breath technique and neili technique. Trains the spleen and lungs. Grants unending endurance as long as the practitioner does not pant or breathe too hard. Costs only three coppers on the roadside stalls. Main function is to cleanse the body and prepare the vessel for greater neili. Is frictionless.56* **Tiger Fist:** Jianghu's most common fighting technique, which doubles as a body training technique. A classic skill, only five coppers, as cheap as charcoal. Uses all parts of the upper body. Trains the entire body, but focuses on the upper body. Requires a strong core and basic strength. Used by almost everyone as a base on top of which actual arts are trained. Five coppers for quite a few copies of the manual.57* **Iron Shirt:** Jianghu's most common defensive body-hardening technique, which doubles as a muscle training regimen. The training is actually full-body, but the easiest exercises are for the chest. Makes one capable of tanking a few arrows with only slight scratches. Seven coppers, as cheap as bread.58* **Stair Sprinting Step:** Jianghu's most common movement technique, which doubles as a core and stamina training method. Four coppers. Teaches basic weight distribution, how to climb a tree or jump over small walls, and how to fall without breaking bones. Helps train the core and the lower body, and grants basic sprinting, agility, and evasion. Not the fastest, but quite easy on the neili. The prequel for anything fancy, stays useful even at higher levels.5960---6162### PART 3: HIGH-TIER INTERACTION RULES & MECHANICS63*(How the heavy hitters actually behave when they interact)*6465* **Beiming (Northern Darkness) Derivatives Limitations:** Beiming derivatives *cannot* drain from Xi Sui Jing or Yi Jin Jing AT ALL, due to their physical and infusion-based nature. Attempting to drain Hanbing True Qi will freeze the drainer's meridians and make them brittle and fragile, while making the drainer's neili stall; attempting to drain Nine Yang Divine Skill will torturously immolate the drainer from the inside out.66* **DEPS Utility:** Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill handles most of the heavy lifting for body refinement and the physical capability to handle structural stress. It is the "engine block" of the body, and can use most qinggong without neili. Of course, this excludes pure neili based skills (like cloud treading steps and capturing dragon claw).67* **Sunflower Castration Caveat:** Sunflower Castration is needed because it assumes the practitioner cannot control their Yang. Without it, their carnal Yang and martial Yang would violently compete and explode at ... that area, causing death. This is fully mitigated by the stage of Nine Yang where "the practitioner achieves absolute harmonic circulation and breaks through the final fiery barrier", which allows complete and absolute control over internal Yang, rendering the castration step unnecessary for a Nine Yang practitioner. Sunflower manual is mainly speed with very little ways to use it; bixie plugs in useable arts to sunflower, and also acts as a bridge for when there are multiple arts that it derives from, all at once : Nine yang (supplies yang and removes 'special' requirement) -> Sunflower (provides speed and base) -> Bixie (derived from and allows compatibility with) -> huashan swordforms and zixia divine skill.68* **SMDS (Six Meridian Divine Sword) Mechanics:** To say "swing a SMDS" is very wrong. SMDS at its peak is 'substance without form'. It uses sword-based Yang Qi instead of blunt Yang Qi. It is not a physical strike channeled through the fingers; it is a pure, lethal construct of intent and Yang energy fired from the meridians, through the air.69* **OYF (One Yang Finger) Scaling:** Maxed out completely = stage 1. The baseline requirement to even *begin* learning SMDS is stage 4. The stages scale from 9 to 1, with 1 being legendary grandmaster-level and 9 being introductory acupoint striking and finger meridian training.70* **Yi Jin Jing (Shaolin Ultimate):** The ultimate 'Translate' and 'Purge' art. It can slowly untangle the messy left by neili drained improperly or neili injected by others, and gently integrate foreign, stolen or accidentally absorbed neili into the user's natural circulation. Cannot directly stop Life-and-Death talisman, but makes the cure slightly more effective. Venting the foreign neili is a better method, but this works.71* **Taiji and Jade Heart:** The greatest internal meridian and circuitry set. This set, when paired with one extreme yang, one extreme yin, one softer version of either yin or yang, and one harmonical internal art, can neutralize the life-and-death talisman without the cure.727374---7576### PART 4: SPECIFIC TECHNIQUE REGISTRIES77*(A non-comprehensive, non-exhaustive set of arts that are to be known; some are famous but misinterpreted, some are obscure, and some have always been obscure in jin yong but somehow gained fame in a different author's work and are thus falsely flagged.)*7879#### Finger Arts (The Point-Strike Lexicon)80* **Shaolin Finger Arts:**81 * Flower-picking Finger (拈花指 – Niānhuā zhǐ)82 * Tāla-Leaf Finger (多罗叶指)83 * Dispelling-Affliction Finger (去烦恼指)84 * Great Wisdom Formless Finger (大智无定指)85 * One Finger Zen (一指禅 - Yī Zhǐ Chán)86 * Mahā-Finger (摩诃指 - Mo He Zhi)87 * Formless Calamity Finger (无相劫指 - Wu Xiang Jie Zhi)88 * Great Vajra Finger (大力金刚指 - Da Li Jin Gang Zhi)89 * Vajra Finger (金刚指 - Jin Gang Zhi)90* **Non-Shaolin Finger Arts:**91 * Indian Buddha Finger (天竺佛指) (Indian Buddhist)92 * Canhe Index-Finger (参合指 - Canhe Zhi) (Murong Family specialty, named after the tragic war at Canhe)93 * Black Heaven Finger (玄天指 - Xuan Tian Zhi) (Canonically froze a basin of water instantly)94 * Divine Finger Flick (Huang Yaoshi, Peach Blossom Island)95 * **Phantom Yin Finger** (Cheng Kun's art. **NOT** Duan Dali Clan. Highly corrosive Yin energy).96 * **One Yang Finger** (Co-owned by Shaolin and Duan Dali Clan. See Part 3 for scaling).9798#### Palm & Striking Arts99* **Thousand Hands Tathāgata Palm** (千手如来掌 - Qiānshǒu Rúlái Zhāng) (Used by Fangzheng. Overwhelmingly large-volume, relentless full-force palm strikes) (works off of pure muscle, canonically only needs TT to make 32 palms, each with their own movements and differences).100* **Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms** (Xianglong Shiba Zhang) (Blunt-force Yang channeled through powerful forms, dealing a great amount of force, with a lot of spread.).101* **Heavenly Mountain Plum Breaking Hand** (An 'Adaptive'-type AND an 'Integrative'-type martial art at once. The forms change slightly based on the experience and creativity of the current user, and on their physical body (small/big, thin/chubby, tall/short). It can integrate all hand based arts under heaven into it's moves, which are three palm routines + three seizing routines, six sets total).102* **Orchid Brushing Hand** A graceful, agile and swift acupoint-striking art. By using a flicking, brushing motion, it targets the opponent's acupoints and joints with extreme precision and speed, causing numbness, meridian sealing, neili stagnation, and/or joint locks with a touch lighter than a feather.103104#### Body, Mind, and Basics105* **Indestructible Vajra Body, Diamond Body, Golden Vajra Body:** Physical reinforcement, heightened defense, and boosted physical stats. Hard to train, but the effort is worth it. Defence is most obvious enhancement.106* **Diamond Mind, Still Mind:** Extremely difficult-to-train mental and cognitive arts; they remove unintentional bias, boost cognition, and help keep the mind clear and steady.107* **Left-Right Mutual Combat:** A cognitive partitioning technique. The user splits sections of their brain to operate their left and right hands as entirely separate entities, allowing them to use two completely different martial arts simultaneously.108109#### Exotic Qi/Neili, Tools, and Miscellany110* **Life and Death Talisman:** (Tianshan Tonglao's main creation, from *Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils*). Microscopic ice sliver infused with conflicting Yin/Yang neili. Melts instantly, leaves no trace. Causes agonizing, unblockable systemic nerve pain. Only the user's specific counter-neili can neutralize it. Usually.111* **Taixuan Jing** (From *Ode To Gallantry* - Shi Potian). An incredibly bizarre, ancient martial art and comprehensive system that looks nothing like usual daoist arts but contains all-encompassing and worldview-shattering martial truths.112* **Thousand Shadows:** A hidden weapon catching method used by Zhao Banshan, capable of catching a large amount of projectiles in a very small amount of time.113* **Huagong Dafa (qi-dissolving method):** This technique involved using poison to invade an opponent’s meridians, causing them to lose their neili permanently. The technique was particularly devastating because it could permanently cripple a martial artist’s abilities.114115#### Sword Arts (The Blade Lexicon)116* **Yue Maiden Swordplay (越女劍法):** A flowing and form-transcending sword art. The ur-sword of all sword forms, predating the sword. Originates with the Spring and Autumn shepherdess A’Qing, who shaped her style through play-sparring with a white ape (白猿). The wellspring from which later “Yue Maiden” traditions descend, (albeit in degraded, battlefield-adapted forms), across the ages, showing up even in Han Xiaoying’s lineage centuries later. Its essence is extreme speed and directness, striking where there is no guard and moving where the eye cannot follow; in A’Qing’s hands it’s less a catalog of techniques and more a pure, formless intent that can brush through entire formations, and predates all sword forms, as their root, capable of breaking it all.117* **Jade Maiden Swordplay (Ancient Tomb Sect):** An intricate, deeply cerebral sword art based on the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra. Its defining mechanic is the extreme and single-minded focus of its creator on Quanzhen Swordplay. Its every move precisely counters Quanzhen swordplay when pitted against it, and perfectly complements Quanzhen swordplay when put together. Its footwork and strikes are mapped to the Bagua (Eight Trigrams), and perfectly counter Quanzhen's Big Dipper Formation.118* **Taiji Swordplay (Wudang):** The physical manifestation of the Taiji philosophy: generating infinite forms from the void of Wuji through the interplay of Yin and Yang. It redirects and dissolves. The user draws continuous circles with the blade, adhering to the opponent's weapon (Zhan, Nian, Lian, Sui) to redirect, neutralize, and borrow their incoming force. It embodies "using four ounces to deflect a thousand pounds," turning the opponent's own momentum and structural rigidities against them until an unavoidable, lethal opening is created.119* **Dugu Nine Swords:** A formless sword art containing no fixed moves, only offensive intents aimed at exploiting structural flaws. It operates by predicting the opponent's movements and targeting the weak points of any weapon stance, footwork, or martial art. It can be executed relying purely on sensitivity and angle, but reaching its absolute true potential against brute force users requires deep internal energy or great physical power to enforce the formless intent against overwhelming force. Canonically, it is designed to defeat opponents with vastly superior internal energy through pure speed, angle, and surgical precision, though profound internal energy and great muscular strength naturally elevates its lethal efficiency.120 * General Formula Stance — 總訣式 (Zǒngjué shì)121 * Sword‑breaking Stance — 破劍式 (Pò jiàn shì)122 * Saber/Blade‑breaking Stance — 破刀式 (Pò dāo shì)123 * Spear‑breaking Stance — 破槍式 (Pò qiāng shì) *(covers all long weapons: halberds, staves, monk’s spades, etc.)*124 * Whip‑breaking Stance — 破鞭式 (Pò biān shì) *(short hard weapons: maces, axes, daggers, shields, hammers, etc.)*125 * Chain/Rope‑breaking Stance — 破索式 (Pò suǒ shì) *(soft/flexible weapons: soft whips, three‑section staffs, chains, nets, meteor hammers, etc.)*126 * Palm‑breaking Stance — 破掌式 (Pò zhǎng shì) *(unarmed combat: fists, legs, grappling, acupoint strikes, claw techniques, iron sand palm, etc.)*127 * Arrow‑breaking Stance — 破箭式 (Pò jiàn shì) *(all concealed/missile weapons, using “listen to the wind” to deflect and even reflect them back)*128 * Neili/Inner‑energy‑breaking Stance — 破氣式 (Pò qì shì)129* **Dugu Five Sword Philosophies / Dugu Qiubai’s Sword Stages:** The philosophical progression of swordsmanship documented on Dugu Qiubai’s sword tomb, representing a lifetime of martial evolution:130 * *Sharp Sword Stage:* Relies on intricate techniques, speed, and the razor edge of the weapon to gain superiority. Relies on great form. Later relies on no form.131 * *Flexible Sword Stage:* Utilizes a soft, yielding blade for erratic, whip-like strikes that bypass rigid defenses (abandoned because the weapon was too unpredictable, and hurt his ally). Used no form, then used form.132 * *Heavy Sword Stage:* The "Overwhelming Force" stage. Relies on a blunt, exceptionally heavy weapon (like the Dark Iron Sword). Complex techniques are discarded; pure, highly concentrated internal energy is channeled through sheer weight and uncomplicated strikes to smash through all parries, techniques, and defenses. Has form that is no form at all yet also the most obvious form.133 * *Wooden Sword Stage:* Internal energy and intent have progressed so far that even a wooden branch cuts like steel; the material of the sword no longer matters. Form and no form cease to be separate.134 * *No Sword Stage:* The ultimate transcendence. "No sword in the hand, but sword in the heart." Everything in the world—from a willow branch to a fallen leaf—becomes a peerless, formless blade. The no form has been taken to the physical form of the sword itself.135* **Hundred Flowers Erratic Sword (Hundred Flowers Wrong Sword):** Created by Chen Jialuo in *Book and Sword*. The genius of this art lies in the word *Cuo* (错 - Wrong/Erratic). The user begins by executing flawless, orthodox moves from mainstream, reputable sects. At the exact moment the opponent recognizes the orthodox form and commits to a counter, the user deliberately alters the angle, stance, and timing by a fraction—turning a "correct" move into an "erratic" one. It weaponizes the opponent's own martial knowledge against them, making it incredibly deceptive and psychologically devastating, especially since the 'flaw' of the orthodox method itself suddenly turns into a lethal trap.136137---138139### PART 5: PHYSICS-BREAKING WUXIA-BASED ARTS140*(A guide to wuxia physics and why it is neither xianxia nor real-world. Mythical arts with extreme requirements and/or absolutely massive Neili drains, producing wondrous effects through creative use of internal energy, precision and perfection of the technique, or sheer neili. These are the few that absolutely need neili to function, whereas every other art can be executed with muscle as long as the muscle is enough.)*141142**No-Contact:**143* **Capturing Dragon Hand:** Grabs and manipulates objects through continuous expenditure of neili, making highly stable air currents that are almost solid, and fully capable of carrying things.144* **Air-Splitting Palm:** Uses short bursts of neili, or through extreme muscle, to project palmforce across the air. The user channels highly compressed internal energy out of the palms to strike across the air. It is not a physical object, but a wave of transmitted kinetic force that can cause internal injury or shatter objects without the user making direct physical contact.145* **Lion's Roar:** The channeling of neili into the vocal chords to create a sonic shockwave. Disrupts the opponent's neili flow, shatters focus, stuns the mind, makes the body flinch, and causes physical damage (bursting eardrums, internal bleeding) through pure sound.146* **Azure Sea Surging Melody (Bihai Chaosheng Qu / 碧海潮生曲):** A mental attack, playable on the flute. Used by Huang Yaoshi.147* **One Yang Finger, Phantom Yin Finger, Six Meridian Divine Swords:** The use of finger meridians to expel neili from the body, allowing it to travel through the air. These arts can be used as normal finger arts as well: OYF is used for healing and acupuncture alongside transferring neili. SMDS can be used while standing still in a dedicated stance at the lower levels, and expands to being used alongside qinggong at high attainment.148* **The Voice Transmission Soul Search Method (传音搜魂大法 – Chuányīn Sōuhún Dàfǎ):** A technique from Xiaoyao that uses profound neili to project voice with great penetrating power and can provide location tracking, near-telepathy, and sound-isolation and directed sound projection.149* **Flame Blade (火焰刀):** Jiumozhi's origin temple's art. High neili “palm” that condenses neili along the palm edge and projects it as a long‑range, invisible cutting edge (formless but substantial). At Tianlong Temple he used it to ignite and steer multiple incense‑smoke streams toward separate targets—showing fine directional control of the projected neili field, not just a pressure blast. Purely neili‑dependent; named as the canonical peer to Six Meridian Divine Swords.150151**Vector-defying and non-newtonian:**152* **Lingbo Weibu:** Movement based on the I-Ching (Book of Changes), Neili-generating footwork that dodges everything by a hair's breadth. It is as carefree when strolling on the beach as it is on a projectile and enemy-ridden battlefield with hostile terrain. Generates neili while walking but drains stamina at high speed. Can be powered by neili to be a very draining evasion footwork, or by muscle to be a neili-generator that happens to give great evasion and terrain adjustment.153* **Divine Transmutation Of Movement:** A qinggong that allows stepping in one way and moving on a vector that does not conform to normal motion. Requires flexibility and smoothness of movement, but allows making smooth movements jerky and jerky movements smooth.154* **Green Bat Body Method:** The Ming Cult's Green Winged Bat King's signature skill, the fastest qinggong under the heavens. The user can glide horizontally for vast distances with almost no altitude loss.155* **Cloud Treading Steps:** Through extreme neili expenditure, allows stepping on non-solid surfaces and climbing the sky. Highly draining but very useful for gaining altitude.156* **Heaven Ascending Steps:** To observers, looks similar to cloud treading steps, but works very differently. By stepping on one's own foot while using copious amounts of neili, the user can climb without any holds at all.157* **Taixuan Jing (Flight):** A very powerful sub-method of Taixuan Jing, is the method that Shi Potian uses: paddling through the air. By ejecting neili through the entire body and paddling, the user can sustain a peculiar kind of flight based on air vortices and buoyancy.158* **Heaven and Earth Great Shift (H&E GS):** Brute redirection of all amounts of force, with no limit, to either the sky or the ground.159* **Star Shifting Art (SSA):** Similar to Taiji in redirection, but works in a more aggressive way. It takes the vector of an incoming attack and deflects it directly backward along the original line of force.160* **White Rainbow Palm Force (白虹掌力):** A very powerful palm method, which can alter the direction of palm force that has already been launched. This art is ranked alongside Tianshan Six Yang Palm as the sect's most advanced palm techniques. The mechanic is ingenious: the force's trajectory curves at will instead of traveling straight. Thrown as an air-cleaving palm, it looks like a frontal strike but the force actually bends around the target's guard or body to land from an unexpected angle that is not possible in normal physics.161* **Heavenly Mountain Plum Breaking Hand:** (An 'Adaptive'-type AND an 'Integrative'-type martial art at once. The forms change slightly based on the experience and creativity of the current user, and on their physical body (small/big, thin/chubby, tall/short). It can integrate all hand based arts under heaven into it's moves, which are three palm routines + three seizing routines, six sets total). Can integrate things like dragon capturing hand and air splitting palm, thus re-mentioned here.162163**Biological Paradox:**164* **Six Harmonies Eight Desolations Sole Honoured Skill (Child Elder's Skill):** By fueling the life-force through pure yang, one can maintain immortal life. This extreme yang requirement is covered by Nine Yang Divine Skill, and can also be covered by less dignified means such as draining young men's natural carnal yang through Northern Darkness. This is, in and of itself, its own neili-generator as well, much like Lingbo Weibu.165* **Bone-Shrinking Art (Suoguo Gong):** This is referenced across many different works of Jin Yong. This allows disguise and even shapeshifting to a certain degree. By controlling muscles and breathing, a practitioner can temporarily dislocate or shift their joints and compress their bones. This allows them to shrink their physical frame to squeeze through tiny openings or slip out of ropes and chains, or appear completely different to observers.166* **Divine Power Of Harmonies / Divine Illumination Scripture (Shenzhao Jing):** A godly art capable of resurrecting even the recently dead.167168**Systemic Paradox:**169* **Tianshan Six Yang Palm (天山六阳掌):** Tianshan Tonglao's art, taught to Xuzhu. At least nine forms confirmed (she taught him nine; the mural she copied it from had more she never taught). Distinctive mechanic: the two palms can channel different yin/yang energy simultaneously — one hand yang, one hand yin, in the same strike. It's also the canon cure for the Life-and-Death Talisman: specific acupoints get hit with a precise yang-palm/yin-palm combination (e.g., right palm rapid-yang on one point while left palm slow-yin-withdraws on another, or maybe reverse, or the speed and purity are different), which means learning this technique requires first understanding how the Talisman itself works. The only counter-qi, but not the only solution if the system is to be followed.170* **Vent, Translate, Pipeline, Harmonical and Integration type neili generators:** These are the powerful neili, and also the ones with the weirdest mechanics. Detailed section is in Part 1. (Jade Maiden needs paired cultivation as in 'one must protect the other from external stimulation to prevent qi deviation'. Do not mix with generic xianxia tropes of 'dual cultivation', that is very bad.)171172**COMBOS:**173* **Utterly Astounding Flight:** Air-Splitting Palm + Dragon Capturing Hand means 'grab something through the air and punch it while grabbing it, so you get dragged along with it when it flies off' sort of flight, and as long as one has enough neili, one can do this forever. Paired with Divine Transmutation Of Movement and Taixuan Jing, this is a nightmare for physics. Paired with Cloud Treading Steps for releasing the thing midair and Green Bat Body Method and Taixuan Jing to keep glide-paddling through the air to grab something else, and White Rainbow Palm to redirect already thrown palmforce, this is just unfair to everyone else.174---175176### PART 6: EXAMPLE SYNERGISTIC BUILDS (How to layer them)177178* **The Neutral Center theme:** Taiji + TT + MC + DEPS + Pre-Heaven + Jade Maiden Heart Sutra + Taixuan Jing + Kurong Zen. Unattributed neili with attributes that can be changed at will, fully capable of functioning without neili.179* **The Yin-Yang Duality theme:** Nine Yang Divine Skill (Override/Absolute Yang) + Hanbing True Qi (Extreme Yin) + Jade Maiden Heart Sutra (Pipeline) + Taiji. Uses the Pipeline to keep the absolute extremes of fire and ice from interacting directly without the user's active control, allowing the user to flash-freeze and immolate in alternating strikes or directly inscribe a Life-and-Death talisman onto the opponent without the ice sliver.180* **The Physical Demi-God theme:** DEPS + TT + MC (Stress Handling/Body) + Beiming (Source) + Taixuan Jing + Taiji + Little Formless Art. Uses DEPS to build a body tough enough to survive the strain of briefly clashing neili, then uses Formless to use whatever random garbage neili they just sucked out of an enemy into fueling their own technique against them.181182---183184### PART 7: CANON MESSES (some common confusions)185186* **Beiming Shengong Lineage:** (Unnamed at creation by Xiaoyaozi ('root' as mentioned in the text), refined and named Beiming Shengong by Wuyaozi) splits off into Huagong Dafa, which splits off into Xi Xing Dafa, which also references parts of Beiming Shengong. This is a very confusing lineage to track due to Ren Woxing's lies: *"创自北宋年间的'逍遥派',分为'北冥神功'与'化功大法'两路"* ("originated with the Northern Song 'Xiaoyao Sect,' which split into two branches: Beiming Divine Skill and Huagong Dafa"). The Smiling, Proud Wanderer's easter egg of continuity, the forgottenness of the fact that "Tian Long Ba Bu itself, independently of Ren Woxing's later story, states plainly that Beiming Divine Skill was created by Xiaoyaozi", and the fact that multiple editions interchanged things from Beiming and Xi Xing being derivatives of an unnamed root to Beiming being the root. Lesser variations exist that are mixed up / confused with these three in-universe even though they have no connection: Ground Energy Draining Lesser Skill (吸功入地小法 - Xigong Rudi Xiaofa) is an obvious example.187 * *Xi Xing:* Sanlian (3rd edition) = fused from both Beiming and Huagong Dafa; 2005 revision = Beiming alone.188189---
